研究内容
I am a sociolinguist with a strong interest in genre analysis and stylistics. My previous projects include the following:
• First-person pronoun choices by Japanese school children
• Language on multilingual signs in central Tokyo
• The language of Japanese spam mails
• Resident-staff communication in Japanese eldercare
My current research is about the use of names and other address forms in literary texts. I also regularly contribute articles on language and society to the Japan Times’ Bilingual column.

• Stylistic analysis of literary texts (song lyrics, drama dialogue, novels, etc.).
• Study of everyday linguistic interaction within the framework of Conversation Analysis
• Semiotic analysis of written language, incl. linguistic landscape
If you are considering an M.A. or PhD. project on these or related topics, please get in touch so we can discuss the details.
